This is exactly the situation the Kumalos find themselves in, after battling it out with Jackie Phamotse since 2018. Basetsana Kumalo and her husband are now breathing a sigh of relief after Jackie was found guilty of defaming them. The former Miss South Africa and TV mogul, was all happy and emotional at the same time, addressing the media after the court case.

The case against Jackie stems from a series of tweets and statements she made on social media in 2018. The best selling author and now TV producer made allegations insinuating the existence of a compromising video involving the Kumalos and another male figure. The tweet trended, with social media user coming up with all sorts of theories. The accusations were not only damaging to Kumalo’s reputation, they also became subjected to social media trolls.

“Just overheard a painful conversation, a female TV mogul pleading with one of my girls to not share videos of her drunk and her husband rimming a celebrity boy! What the hell! What kind of marriages do we have now! I have asked to see this video,” Jackie tweeted.

Basetsana, then took legal action against Jackie to clear her name and hold her accountable for spreading false and damaging information. The case took a whole five years and finally a verdict has been reached. After careful consideration of the evidence presented, the court ultimately ruled in favor of Basetsana. Jackie has been found guilty of defamation, and the judgement is set for October.
