“Today Makes It 2 Months,” Oneal Remembers His Best Friend Naledi Willers
“Today Makes It 2 Months,” Oneal Remembers His Best Friend Naledi Willers. Nothing ever prepares us for the death of a loved one. It doesn’t matter how sick they are, we always hope that a miracle will happen, and they will get back to good health. Speaking of which, loved ones and family members had hope that Naledi Willers, will beat cancer, but sadly the disease was just too strong.
The Real Housewives of Johannesburg star and former beauty queen was diagnosed with stage 2 triple negative breast cancer in November 2019. Although she fought hard to keep the cancer at bay, Naledi unfortunately lost the battle on Tuesday 07 December. Her memorial service, which was aired on YouTube left viewers emotional as friends, family and industry peers spoke highly of Naledi.
One of those people who had such a special relationship with Naledi is Oneal. At the memorial service the media personality and former Big Brother Africa participant spoke about the strong bond they had. They were like brother and sister more than anything. Since Naledi’s passing Oneal has been sharing fond memories of the two shared, when she was still alive.
It has been two months since Naledi passed away, and Oneal seized the moment to remember her. From his tribute, one can tell that it is going to take a while for him to come to terms with her death.
“Today makes It 2 Months.
I was assured the unfairness of It will eventually go away, well, It has not. I haven’t been able to escape the platitudes either Lol (Inside Joke) I realize you knew this was coming. But you were counting on me coming to terms with this as soon as possible as time was running out. You wanted us to have an intellectual conversation about this, to pathologize your “End”, but I was none the wiser. Perhaps I wasn’t ready?,” Oneal said.
Oneal also stated that Naledi’s passing challenged his proclivity, and all his go-to trauma responses have vanished. For Oneal, the only person he could spar with on such matters was Naledi. This is because of the time they spent having conversations.
