Miss SA Lalela Mswane Dragged for Not Boycotting Miss Universe Pageant in Israel
Miss SA Lalela Mswane Dragged for Not Boycotting Miss Universe Pageant in Israel. It has now become a norm that every Miss SA tittle holder has to go through some kind of drama. The likes of Demi-Leigh Tebow, Zozibini Tunzi as well as Shudufhadzo Musida have all had their fair share of drama during their reign.
For Lalela Mswane though, it seems like she is seeing flames from the get go. The current Miss South Africa only got to enjoy her reign for a few weeks, before critics stepped in. Scooping the crown meant that Lalela was going to represent SA at the upcoming Miss Universe pageant set for Israel, but there seem to be some obstacles.
A number of people including Mandla Mandela, has called for her to boycott the pageant. This is because of the cruel treatment of Palestinians at the hands of the apartheid Israel regime. Palestine Solidarity Alliance has also accused the beauty queen of not caring about the plight of Palestinians and being “worried about her own self gains”.
Miss Universe 2021 will take place at Eliat in Israel on December 12 2021.
As the flag bearer to our country, Miss SA's participation in the Miss Universe contest in Israel normalizes an Apartheid state, and detrimental to solidarity efforts with Palestinian people.
The South African government must urgently intervene, especially Min. @NathiMthethwaSA

I understand the bashing of Miss SA , as public figures we can't say we putting politics aside we need to set a good public image, she should have declined to participate that's it.

I also don’t think we are being too hard on her to expect her to not go, she’s literally Miss SA. She’s representing the whole country.

The @Official_MissSA franchise kept Anele after several opinions of her that contradict what the #MissSa stands for, so I’m not surprised they are going to Israel.
This franchise is still about beauty and looks and not impact.

Although Lalela is going through the most on social media, there are those who are standing by her. They don’t understand why she is catching the smoke when in fact the organizers are the ones who should be held accountable.

Why aren't they directly asking @MissUniverse org to not hold the pageant in Israel, going after #MissSA @Lalela_lali is not going to stop the pageant from proceeding! Stop the pageant in Israel directly @Official_MissSA was also wrong here & knowing how apartheid affected US!!

Contracts were signed, responsibilities and duties were stipulated.
Lalela is receiving misdirected backlash.
Start with Miss Universe organisation, why they’ve decided to host in Israel.
Then go to Miss SA organisation, why they’re participating. #MissSA #MissUniverse2021— Venikunle/Adenita Chief Shipper 🇿🇦 (@Keagh_Bathong) November 8, 2021
Miss SA & Organisers must NOT be bullied into taking sides in 100 year conflicts. She has earned her crown and has a right to live her dream and compete for Miss Universe! This nonsense that we have to take sides in conflicts that have nothing to do with us.Mandela told them in 92 https://t.co/YcBxjhBl5O

I am not sure how to feel about this. Ya'll are out here coming for Lalela while your gorvenment is not willing to cut ties with Israel. First boycott your gorvenment before bullying Lalela for doing her job. Let MissSA live her dream!— The Queen of peace 🌈🇿🇦🇩🇪 (@Queennatasha_O) November 8, 2021
