Tumisho Masha Claps Back After Being Judged For Standing By Katlego Maboe
Tumisho Masha Claps Back After Being Judged For Standing By Katlego Maboe. It is not award ceremonies, if there is no controversy attached to them. At the moment we are looking forward to the South African Film and Television awards as well as the South African Music Awards. All of these have dropped interesting nomination for various categories. Just as expected, already some of the nominees have been questioned by members of the public.
A few weeks ago the SAFTAs made news after including Katlego Maboe in one of their categories as a nominee. The television personality was nominated in the Best TV Presenter category against Devi Sankaree Govender, Dineo Ranaka, Palesa Tembe, Katchie Nzama and Waldimar Pelser. Unfortunately for Katlego, his nomination was later withdrawn following public outcry over abuse allegations hanging over him.
“After careful deliberation of concerns raised regarding the nomination of Mr.Katlego Maboe in the Best TV Presenter Public Vote Category, announced on Thursday, 29 April 2021, the SAFTA’s jury has decided to rescind his nomination,” the SAFTAs said in a short statement.
This did not sit well with a lot of people who were looking forward to see their fave redeem himself. One of those who was disappointed over this is Tumisho Masha. The award winning actor and TV personality regards this as a ‘dumb’ move.
One social media, who according to his bio is also in the entertainment industry, came guns blazing at Masha saying he should stop being an apologist. Masha did not hold back in his response, ad dissed the whole cancel culture going on. He also went on to advice that people should normalize innocent until proven guilty.
Things between Masha and the tweep escalated even hotter, when the guy emphasized that cancel culture is important to remind celebs that they have a platform because of ordinary people. “You guys think you’re untouchable cause you on TV, everything has consequences papa,” he said.
Masha, went even in harder, referring to the gentleman as a struggling artist. Ouch! He also reminded him that he is not the reason he is where he is in his career. “God gave me the talent and the opportunities,” Masha said.
