Watch: Herman Mashaba’s Farewell Message As The Mayor of Johannesburg. This is his last day in office. Herman Mashaba announced last month that he will be resigning as mayor of Johannesburg.
His resignation came a few days after former Democratic Alliance leader Mmusi Maimane called it quits from the party. Mashaba took to Twitter to share his successes during his three years in office.
“I would like to thank Johannesburg residents from the bottom of my heart. Serving you has been the greatest privilege of my life”, he said.
Although it is never possible to satisfy anyone when it comes to politics, Mashaba pointed out where he managed to put a smile on the people of Johannesburg’s faces.
In 2016, Mashaba secured the mayoral seat after the DA won 38% of the votes in Johannesburg in the local government elections
