Didie Makobane Calls for the Return of the Death Penalty

Didie Makobane Calls for the Return of the Death Penalty. Women are dying, families are grieving and the nation is angry. Femicide cases are escalating, and these are nit just numbers, but human beings who existed among us. They are daughters, mothers and very much part of the society. Women are now given survival tips, as perpetrators are still at large. Didie Makobane has joined in the conversations, and feels that the best way is an eye for an eye. She has called on for the death penalty to return for gender based violence offenders.

The talented actress and entrepreneur called out the government and police officers for not doing enough to protect women. She feels for the women who get brutally killed, only for the perpetrators to walk freely. The only solution that Didie can think of, is for the killers to be sentenced to death of caught. This will perhaps, make others scared to commit the same offenses.

“The death penalty will have to to do for #GBV perpetrators! There aren’t any consequences that come with ending a female life! They are comfortable because they know they can get away with it in broad daylight! Our government has failed us and our police officials are too fat to do their jobs! The only thing that will STOP men is the death penalty! #GBV @womenforchangesa #femicide,” Didie said.

A serious Matter

The deaths of eight women whose bodies were discovered in Ekurhuleni have renewed calls for greater urgency in South Africa’s response to gender-based violence. A lot is needed to ensure that women feel safe in their own spaces.
