“It’s Discipline,” Nambitha Ben-Mazwi On Turning Down Opportunities That Don’t Align With Her Vision. The entertainment industry is so competitive, and opportunities don’t come by everyday. This has led to some creatives to take any job just to survive. Well, there are some though like Nambitha Ben-Mazwi, who won’t just take anything for the sake of working.
The multi-award winning actress shared that it takes something strong inside of you to stop chasing every opportunity. She advocates for taking those that aligns with ones’ vision.
“There’s something powerful about reaching a point in your life where you stop chasing every opportunity and start choosing the ones that actually match your vision,” Nambitha said.
The Women’s Health Magazine Jan + Feb 2026 cover star also said “I’ve had to say ‘no’ to a lot of instant gratification to avoid compromising my bigger vision. I’ve had to turn down certain roles and opportunities. For me, every decision comes down to one question: ‘Is this in line with my vision and strategy going forward?’”
Nambitha, however, acknowledges that taking such decision is not an easy thing to do. It’s also not glamorous, but nonetheless, the stance shows how disciplined you are.
“It’s not easy. It’s not glamorous. It’s discipline. No one claps for you when you turn something down. But there’s a steadiness in her voice when she says it – a woman who has learned that success built on alignment lasts longer than success built on impulse,” Nambitha said in conclusion.
