Applications Open for the Military Skills Development System (MSDS) 2027 Intake. The 2026 Military Skills Development System (MSDS) application form for the 2027 intake is now available.
Background
The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) offers a Military Skills Development (MSD) program on a two-year contract. During the first year of service, recruits undergo initial military training followed by specialized functional training within their respective Services. In the second year, depending on the
requirements of their specific mustering, members are deployed to various Units where they are given the opportunity to apply their knowledge, develop leadership qualities, and enhance their practical skills in a professional environment.
Requirements:
- RSA Citizen (No dual citizenship).
- 18 – 22 years of age (Grade 12)
- 18 – 26 years of age when reporting. (3 years Tertiary Qualification)
- Admission Point Score (APS) 18 and above, excluding Life Orientation (LO). (Maths & Physical Science will be required for specialized musterings ie. Aviation engineering etc)
- Have no criminal record or pending cases.
- Comply with medical requirements. (Applicants will be subjected to drug testing, psychometric and medical evaluation)
- No Visible tattoos (when in uniform), verification through body inspection.
