Miss South Africa Organization Warns About Scammers Falsely Claiming to Collect Funds On Behalf of Luyanda Zuma. Over the weekend Qhawakazi Mazaleni was crowned the 67th Miss South Africa. Luyanda Zuma and Karabo Mareka bagged 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
The top three ladies, were strong contenders, and the title could have gone either way. All of them had many people rooting for them, with Karabo being voted by fans to make the Top 5. Luyanda on the other hand, came with experience in pageantry as well as in the entertainment industry. Qhawe won hearts with her cause, which is all about having an education system that caters for all. At the end of the day, the she was crowned the queen.
As many of Luyanda‘s fans feel she deserved the crown, this has opened an opportunity for scammers. On Facebook, there are posts where they are soliciting funds, claiming they are for the 1st princess.
One of the posts reads, “I want us to donate for Luyanda Zuma so that she knows we got her back & we were rooting for her.”
Miss SA organization has acted swiftly to warn unsuspecting people to not fall into the trap. The organization urges the nation to not donate, share or engage with such posts. They should rather report any page that they see suspicious.
