Miss South Africa Organization Addresses Bullying Allegations Involving One of It’s Top 10 Contestants. One thing about Miss South Africa competition, there is always drama surrounding the contestants. Back in 2020, Miss SA hopeful Bianca Schoombee, pulled out of the competition after racist tweets she posted around 2014, were discovered.
In 2023, Levern José, a Top 12 finalist decided to withdraw from the pageant. The candidate property practitioner, and entrepreneur’s withdrawal was due to bullying. There was pressure on social media after some of her former schoolmates shared how she used to bully them.
Now another contestant, Bridgette Jones, is being accused of being a bully. A since deleted Tick Tok video where a former work colleague who labelled her a “bully”, went viral. The video was made by a female former colleague, named Kayla Jenecker. Jenecker claimed that Jones and a group of other women had verbally harassed her, leading her to report the incident to management. Jenecker stated that she posted a video documenting her experience on Instagram. However, she was allegedly forced to remove it by the company CEO. She also states that in a disciplinary hearing, which is currently pending, Jones made “false statements” about her.
Reacting to the video, the Miss SA Organization, acknowledged that they are aware of the accusations. The organization also stated that they expect participants to uphold their code of conduct. This includes, respect, integrity and accountability throughout the competition. While that is the case, the organization rely on formal processes to deal with any complaints.
Reacting to the video, Jones dismissed the allegations as being false. She explained that the matter related to her former employer and colleagues in a legal case, she had no involvement in. By the time this happened, Jones had already left the company. Jones said that her former employer defended her against the allegations.
“This situation has been deeply distressing, as it unfairly affects my name and reputation. I remain committed to representing myself with integrity and respect, both personally and professionally,” she added.
