Applications Open for the Mopani District Municipality Learnership Programme. Mopani District Municipality invites unemployed youth to participate in a range of learning intervention programmes funded by the Local Government Sector Education and Training Authority (LGSETA) and RAMS.
About the Learnership Programme
The opportunities are aimed at unemployed young people between the ages of 18 and 40 years who meet the qualifications and requirements for the various programmes. Available opportunities include internships, workplace learning programmes, work experience opportunities and learnerships in fields such as water and sanitation, public management, financial management, environmental health, environmental management, engineering and water treatment operations.
Positions Available
1. BSc: Community Water Services and Sanitation
Programme Type: Internship/Work Experience – TVET and HET Qualifications
Number of Opportunities: 5
Duration: 12 months
Monthly Stipend: R6,500
Qualification Required: NQF Level 7 BSc Degree or B-Tech in Community Water Services, Water Care or Environmental Science.
2. National Diploma: Public Management
Programme Type: Internship/Work Experience – TVET and HET Qualifications
Number of Opportunities: 5
Duration: 12 months
Monthly Stipend: R6,500
Qualification Required: NQF Level 6 National Diploma in Public Management or Public Administration.
3. National Diploma: Financial Management
Programme Type: Internship/Work Experience – TVET and HET Qualifications
Number of Opportunities: 5
Duration: 12 months
Monthly Stipend: R6,500
Qualification Required: NQF Level 6 National Diploma in Financial Management.
4. Environmental Health
Programme Type: WIL HET
Number of Opportunities: 5
Duration: 12 months
Monthly Stipend: R6,500
Qualification Required: NQF Level 6–7 National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health.
5. Environmental Practice
Programme Type: WIL HET

Qualification Required: NQF Level 5 National Diploma in Environmental Management or Environmental Sciences.
6. Water and Sanitation Science

Qualification Required: NQF Level 7 Advanced Diploma in Water Care or Water and Sanitation Science.
7. Financial Management
Programme Type: WIL TVET

Qualification Required: NQF Level 5 N6 Certificate in Financial Management from a TVET college.
8. Mechanical Engineering
Programme Type: WIL TVET

Monthly Stipend: R4,000
Qualification Required: NQF Level 5 N6 Certificate in Mechanical Engineering from a TVET college.
9. Electrical Engineering
Programme Type: WIL TVET

Duration: 24 months
Monthly Stipend: R4,000
Qualification Required: NQF Level 5 N6 Certificate in Electrical Engineering from a TVET college.
10. Water and Wastewater Treatment Process Operations
Programme Type: Learnership
Number of Opportunities: 50
Duration: 24 months
Monthly Stipend: R4,000
Qualification Required: NQF Level 4 Grade 12 with English Level 2 and Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy Level 2.
11. Civil Engineering
Programme Type: Internship
Number of Opportunities: 3
Duration: 12 months
Monthly Stipend: R2,500
Qualification Required: Grade 12; S4 in Civil Engineering; Diploma in Civil Engineering; or BSc in Civil Engineering. A driver’s licence is also required.
Documents Required
Unemployed youth who meet the requirements for one or more of the programmes must submit the following documents:
- Cover letter clearly indicating the learning intervention being applied for
- Updated Curriculum Vitae
- Recently certified copy of ID, both sides
- Certified copies of relevant qualifications
Applicants should ensure that the documents are properly prepared before submission. The cover letter should clearly identify the specific programme being applied for, while the CV should provide accurate information about qualifications, skills and any relevant experience.
Certified copies of qualifications should correspond with the requirements of the selected programme. Applicants should also ensure that the ID copy is certified and includes both sides of the identity document.
