Social Media Reacts to Dali Mpofu Leaving the EFF for MK Party. It’s not raining but pouring currently for the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party. The political party continues to lose prominent members, with most of them joining uMkhonto WeSizwe Party (MK).
A few months back after EFF’s former deputy president Floyd Shivambu, shocked many when he announced his resignation. The news came unexpected since Shivambu is one of the EFF founding members, and was a key leader. Shortly after that it was revealed that he joined the MK party.
Three weeks ago, another key member Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebana announced her resignation from the (EFF). A week after that, the former Public Protector was announced as a new member at Jacob Zuma’s uMkhonto Wesizwe. Among other reasons, Mkhwebana stated that she joined the organization because of its understanding of the persecution of black people.
Now the EFF has lost yet another leader, again to MK. The former Economic Freedom Fighters Chairperson, Advocate Dali Mpofu has just left the party, and he has found a new political home. Mpofu says he believes the MK Party is the only vehicle to achieve unity and emancipation. On their part, the party has welcomed him with warm hands, and believe he will be of great value to the movement.
As the news broke, Mpofu made headlines both on social media and the mainstream media. Different opinions are shared over his change of party membership. There are those who feel his departure was long time coming. They state it was obvious that he was one of the EFF members who was going to follow Shivambu. Some of course think it’s good riddance that he is gone.
