Applicants are not required to submit certified copies of educational qualifications, academic records, Identity documents and a valid motor vehicle driver’s license (where required) but must submit a duly completed Z83 application for employment form, and a detailed CV. All the recommended candidates will be subjected to personnel suitability checks on criminal records, citizenship and educational qualifications. It is the responsibility of the candidate to have foreign qualifications evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).

As per DPSA’s Directive on Human Resource & Development for Public Service Professionalisation Volume 1, paragraph 1.32.1, all shortlisted candidates, including SMS, shall undertake two pre-entry assessments. One must be a practical exercise, and the other must be an Integrity (Ethical Conduct) Assessment.

Following the pre-entry assessments and the Interview, the selection panel will recommend SMS candidates to attend a generic managerial competency assessment (in compliance with the DPSA Directive on the implementation of competency-based assessments). The competency assessment will be testing generic managerial competency using the mandated DPSA SMS competency assessment tools. A further requirement for appointment at SMS level will be the successful completion of the Senior Management Pre-entry programme as endorsed by the National School of Government. The Department reserves the right NOT to make any appointment to the posts advertised. The employment decision shall among other determination be informed by the Employment Equity Plan of the Department
