MultiChoice Warns Against A Scammer Impersonating Tshedza Pictures’ Phatu Makwarela
MultiChoice Warns Against A Scammer Impersonating Tshedza Pictures’ Phatu Makwarela. Quite often scammers lure hopefuls with fake job adverts. Normally they target those who want to enter the entertainment industry with fake auditions for acting, singing or modelling.
Shows like Uzalo, The Queen, Muvhango, and Generations: The Legacy have in the past warned the public against such. Once there is a fake audition ad, these shows share on their respective social media pages, that they are not running any auditions. One thing though, these scammers never give up, and so it’s up to the general public to be extra vigilant.
Currently there is an individual who is pretending to be Phathutshedzo Makwarela, who is a writer, executive producer, and co-owner of Tshedza Pictures. The scammer is using the number 063 528 7420, calling actors directly and trying to convince them to fly themselves to Durban for a shoot on the hit Showmax series, Adulting. The unsuspecting job seekers are then informed that they will be reimbursed for their air ticket. About a week ago, Tshedza Pictures clearly stated that this is a scam and advised all potential actors not to fall for the scam.
Now MultiChoice has stepped in to further warn the public. They advised people to be aware and stay alert.
“MultiChoice has been made aware of a scammer impersonating Phatu Makwarela, Writer, Executive Producer, and Co-Owner of Tshedza Pictures. Please beware and stay alert! Do not engage or share any of your personal information“, the entertainment company warned.
