AJ and Owami Mafokate Bags Cool Gigs At The SAMAs. This is the sibling duo we never knew we needed. AJ and Owami Mafokate do almost everything together from reality shows, to performing at the same gigs.
The brother and sister duo both star on Born Into Fame, a reality show that takes us through the lives of kids whose parents are famous. They star alongside Shamiso Mosaka, Tank the Rockstar, Phila Madlingozi and Robbie Malinga Jr. AJ and Owami also do a lot of gigs together as DJs. One of their most major gigs this year us playing at President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Inauguration.
Now they have bagged yet another major gig. The Mafokate siblings will play at the South African Music Awards After-Party this weekend.. Other DJs on the lineup include the veteran Oskido, Wanda Baloyi, and DJ Thabithabs.
Without a doubt the two followed in their parents’ footsteps. Their father is Kwaito legend and entrepreneur Arthur Mafokate, with the iconic former Abashante Queen Sisoko being Owami’s mother.

Other celebrities also have bagged gigs at this year’s South African Music Awards event. Celebrated media personality, event MC and entrepreneur Minnie Dlamini will host the main event. On the red carpet duties is the talented duo of Sphesihle Vazi and Kuhle Adams. METRO FM radio presenter and TV personality Looks Love will hold it down at the SAMAs Industry Awards and Pre-show as host.
The award event which is sponsored by Motsepe Foundation will take place on the 2nd November 2024.
