Basetsana Kumalo On Why She Stopped Processing Her Hair With Chemicals. She has one of the most beautiful crowns ever. Basetsana Kumalo, has been keeping it natural for a decade now, and we love how she is able to get versatile with hairstyles.

The former Miss South Africa, author and TV mogul has been spotting a beautiful Afro for some years now. Basetsana joins several local celebs who have ditched the weave, for a natural crown. She recently shared her reasons, for going natural.

As someone in the public eye, and also a mother to a daughter, Bassie decided to lead by example. She wants other women to appreciate their beauty in every form.

“So I stopped processing my hair with chemicals when I gave birth to my daughter 10 years ago, I was intentional that I wanted her to grow up and know that she is good enough…she is beautiful…she is worthy just the way she is. So I decided to lead by example and grew my Afro,” Bassie said.

It has also been about six year, since Bassie colored her hair. She did so because she wanted that when she turns 50, her crown will be fully grey and she will do an iconic 50th photo shoot graying with grace. Bassie definitely achieved that as she looked all gracious for her epic 50th birthday celebration.

To all those hair maestro’s who have nourished and nurtured my Queendom @adehairofficial @rekkysignature @afrocornerhairsalon thank you.

My gift was seeing my daughter in the last frame looking at her Mama with wonder unbeknownst to her,
” Bassie said in gratitude.
