Hulisani Ravele’s Touching Plea To South African Men

On women’s day, media personality Hulisani Ravele took it upon herself to address men. It goes without saying that most of the abuse women encounter comes from men. She challenged men to start having real conversations among themselves about abuse if they really care about women.
“Wait with the marching. Men need to build men, men need to talk to men, men need to start shaming each other for being ABUSERS,” she said. Hulisani urged men to start talking now, as abuse can also happen to people close to them. She asked men specifically, because they might know who among them abuse women. Let’s hope they heed the warning and maybe the numbers of women abuse will dwindle.
Dear men, if you love & appreciate us as much as you say you do, start having REAL conversations amongst yourselves about abuse. #WomensDay

When will you start talking gents? When it happens to your sister? To your daughter? Could be too late by then. #WomensDay

Men, abusers are your friends, your beer buddies, your 5-a-side soccer dudes, your colleagues. Stop covering for them. #WomensDay
