“Thank You for the Beautiful Ride,” Florence Masebe Bids Skeem Saam Farewell. It’s not always easy to assume a role that was played by another actor. In so many instances, there are comparisons, and viewers don’t really warm up to the replacement. Even the best of actors like Hungani Ndlovu have gone through this.

Well, this is not the case with Florence Masebe, who joined Skeem Saam a couple of months back. The award winning veteran actress is currently playing the iconic role of Meiki Maputla on a temporary basis. Meiki is one of the characters who started with the SABC1 educational drama back in 2011. She is a loyal wife and dedicated mother, who also runs the family supermarket. Meiki is feisty and will do anything to protect her family, even if it means killing someone.

The original face behind the role is Harriet Manamela, who has been with show since it premiered over a decade ago. Due to unforeseen circumstances, she was on sick leave, and couldn’t continue with the role. Florence was thus roped in to take over from May 15th, until the end of the season. Fans gushed over how very well she slayed the Meiki character, without even trying to be Harriet. Sadly the time is almost here fro Mam Florence to bid farewell to the show. Expressing her gratitude, she thanked everyone concerned for the beautiful ride.
