eNCA Wont’ Air Former President Jacob Zuma’s Interview Today and Here Is Why

eNCA Wont’ Air Jacob Zuma’s Interview Today and Here Is Why. South Africa’s general elections are only two days ago. With that said, all political parties are working around the clock to lure voters. They use mediums such as TV, radio, billboards, posters as well as their own social media accounts to run their respective campaigns.

Many people have been looking forward to MK Party leader Jacob Zuma’s two-hour interview. He recently sat down with veteran journalist JJ Tabane of eNCA. Sadly the interview will not be broadcast on Monday as many expected. The channel has just released a statement saying it is too close to the elections.

The interview cannot be broadcast tonight [Monday] as it is so close to the elections. For this reason, all current affairs programmes, including Power To Truth, have been cancelled this week,” the news channel said.

eNCA said the decision was an exercise of editorial discretion aimed at upholding journalistic integrity before elections. They also added that they favor no political party over any other and the failure to broadcast the interview has nothing to do with it involving ex-president Zuma.

Zuma is not happy about these developments. In a viral video, the former president accused the SABC and eNCA of banning his interviews days before Wednesday’s election.

This is something out of this world because South Africa is a democratic country. I think I am the only one so far being blocked by big broadcasting stations. I last heard of this in the hard days of apartheid where many people were not allowed to speak. They were banned not to say anything. Not to say their views, politically in particular,” Zuma said.
