Hlomla Dandala Makes His Smoke & Mirrors Debut. Replacing another actor in a show, is never an easy task. Quite often viewers take time to warm up to you, no matter how talented you are. Will this be the case with Hlomla Dandala on Smoke & Mirrors? We remain to see.
Dandala has taken over the role of Caesar Ngonyama on the hit e.tv telenovela. Caesar is a ruthless villain, willing to do anything to get his way. He has murdered s number of people for muthi, and some to get off them his way. The role was previously played by Zolisa Xaluva, who killed it. However, back in November 2023, there were reports that the award winning actor was fired from the series. Immediately after the news broke, it was revealed that Dandala was going to take over from him.
Although it’s sad to see Zolisa go, Dandala, is also another actor who is exceptionally great in acting. He is well known for playing detective Zweli Dikana on The River for 5 seasons. Dandala made his TV debut in 1998 as mine manager Derek Nyathi on Isidingo. He left Isidingo in 2001 and subsequently returned to direct on it. He also directed on Backstage, Scandal!, Generations and Hard Copy. Dandala joined Scandal! as Kingsley Langa in 2016.
His other TV credits include starring roles on SABC1’s political thriller End Game, the SABC2 drama series Land of Thirst and the Netflix thriller Justice Served, where he played freedom fighter with an agenda Azania Maqoma.
All is not lost for though Zolisa, who has joined Mzansi Magic‘s new crime drama series Code 13 where he stars as detective Bheki Ndlovu.
