Mamokgethi Phakeng Bags A Cool International Award. One thing about Mamokgethi Phakeng, she is recognized globally. The likes of Oprah Winfrey are among those who have publicly sang her praises. The former University of Cape Town Vice Chancellor has also received numerous international awards.
Among her most recent awards is the inaugural Africa Education Medal in 2022, which recognizes the work of changemakers who transform education on the continent. Phakeng was chosen from 10 other finalists from across the continent including former Tanzanian president, Jakaya Kikwete. In the same year, Mamokgethi also won Africa Education Medal launched by T4 Education and HP in collaboration with Intel and Microsoft.
Over the past couple of days, Phakeng has been posting on social media about her trip to Cairo, Egypt. She is there for the Pan-African Leadership Summit. This took place ahead of the 10th Annual Tribal Leaders Summit will be hosted at Isleta Resort & Casino starting from May 22 to 23, 2024.
At the event, Phakeng was one of the speakers, encouraging4 fellow women. She also got some major recognition in the form of an award. Phakeng walked away with an Award in Recognition of Women Advancement.
