Hope Mbhele, Shaun Mkhize, Somizi, Mo Flava and Other Celebs Proud of Bafana Bafana
Hope Mbhele, Shaun Mkhize, Somizi, Mo Flava and Other Celebs Celebrate Bafana Bafana. Throughout the African Cup of Nations tournament, South African national team gave it their best. Sadly Bafana Bafana lost on penalties to arch-rivals, Nigeria during the semi-finals.
Most people wrote Bafana Bafana off, considering how the team ha been doing lately internationally. Having lost their first game, it was thought that they wouldn’t be able to go past group stages. Bafana Bafana redeemed themselves by beating Namibia and drawing with Tunisia. Advancing to the next leg, Bafana Bafana beat African giants Morocco, 2-0, and in the quarterfinals they beat Cape Verde in a hectic penalty shoot out.
Bafana Bafana, now had to face Nigeria in the semi-finals. Everyone was looking forward to the game, and hopeful that the team will win. After drawing 1-1 after extra time, penalties had to decide who the best team was. Although the goalkeeper Ronwen Williams did amazing things against Cape Verde, the Super Eagles prevailed as they slotted four against Bafanaโs two to play in the ultimate footballing match in Africa.
While this loss meant Bafana will now contest for a third-place finish for the first time in 26 years against DR Congo or hosts Ivory Coast on Saturday night, theyโll still be proud of their exploits.
Congratulatory messages have been pouring in for the team, despite the loss. Check out what some of our celebs had to say.
