SA Celebs React to Springboks’ Win
SA Celebs React to Springboks’ Win. The Rugby World Cup quarter finals were one of the best we have never seen. The four best teams in the world, gave us a show over the weekend, playing each other. Both those matches, between Ireland and New Zealand, and France and South Africa, would have been worthy of a final. The teams have set the bar high for the remaining four games of Rugby World Cup 2023.
The game that many can’t stop talking about though has to be between South Africa and France. Well South Africa are the defending champions, whereas France are the hosts. On top of everything else, the two teams are among the greatest in the world. It was evident from the start that it was anyone’s game. However, France had a upper hand because of the home ground advantage.
France won all the points for artistic merit, if only they had been on offer, but, it was the Springboks who knew the shortest route to victory. By the end, France’s insatiable appetite for the running game had unraveled, but they stuck to it till the clock ran red and they could hang on to the ball no more. Although they maintained the lead for quite some time towards the end of the game, France couldn’t hold on to it until the final whistle. At the end of the day, it was a 29-28 victory for the Springboks
On Friday, Argentina will play New Zealand in the first semi-final at Stade de France, 24 hours before England take on the Springboks at the same venue.
Here at home, most were on the edge of their seats. Social media was on fire with statuses of support for the Boks.
