Morning Live Remembers Vuyo Mbuli 10 Years After His Passing
Morning Live Remembers Vuyo Mbuli 10 Years After His Passing. On this day 10 years ago, the country lost one of its most talented TV personalities. Many could not come to terms with Vuyo Mbuli’s untimely death, which made breaking news across the country.
He collapsed while watching the Cheetahs’ 27-13 Vodacom Super Rugby win over the Reds at the Free State Stadium. Vuyo was treated on the scene before being taken to the Mediclinic hospital in Bloemfontein, where he sadly passed away. He was at the age of 46. It was later established that Mbuli died of pulmonary embolism, contrary to initial heart attack reports. His blood had clotted and he had two relatively large clots. Vuyo left behind his wife Savita Mbuli and their two children.
The late veteran broadcaster made his television debut in 1993 for TopSport Surplus (to become SABC 3) as a continuity presenter. Mbuli worked his way up to sports presenting and news anchor. He worked on Morning Live on SABC 2 since its inception on 1 November 1999, until his untimely death in 2013.
Today, marks 10 years since we lost him and the pain still feels fresh more so to those who were close to him. Morning Live took to Twitter to remember Vuyo on this particular death anniversary. They shared a picture of him and the comments section immediately got filled with tributes from those that Mr Sharp Sharp touched while he was still on the show.
“Today we remember Vuyo Mbuli 10 years since his passing,” Morning Live said.
