6000 Unemployed Youth Wanted By Gauteng Government for Solar Panel Installation Training. As the saying goes, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Load shedding has for sure made our lives a living hell, and the situation gets worse every single day. Having noted that though, there are still some positiveness to draw from the situation the country is faced with.
With that in mind, the Premier of Gauteng Provincial Government Panyaza Lesufi has just made an announcement that will be beneficial for many young people out there. The Premier revealed that Gauteng Government in partnership with Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector Education and Training Authority (MERSETA) are looking for 6 000 young people to train as solar technicians. This is in line with Lesufi’s commitment to ensure that young people are trained, skilled and equipped in the energy space.
The selected young people, will receive a monthly stipend while in training to help take care of their personal needs. On top of that, they will be skilled enough to help bring solutions that will help us cope during load shedding. Only young people in the Gauteng province are encouraged to apply for the training opportunity.
More details on this will be shared in a press conference hosted by Lesufi and merSETA CEO, Ms Disa Mpande as well as representatives from the South African Photovoltaic Industry Association. The press conference will take place on Thursday 04 May 2023.
“We are looking for 6000 young unemployed youth based in GAUTENG to be trained as installers of solar panels. They will earn a monthly stipend during training. Skill the youth to fight load shedding,” Lesufi announced.
