Shaka iLembe Release Date Announced. The news that many have been waiting for with anticipation has finally been shared. Shaka Ilembe, a drama series that will shed more light on the life of King Shaka Zulu will soon grace our screens.

Set in the 1700s, Shaka Ilembe tells the story of this iconic black leader’s early childhood through to adulthood. The drama series was announced in may 2022, with a captivating trailer that made it trend for quiet some time. After almost a year of waiting Mzansi Magic has put many out of misery by sharing the premier date of Shaka Ilembe.

Shaka Ilembe is set to start on the 18th of June this year on Mzansi Magic.

American based celebrated media personality and actress Nomzamo Mbatha plays Queen Nandi, the revered mother of King Shaka. She will also executive produce the series, which was filmed in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal provinces. Lemogang Tsipa and newcomer Ntando Zondi, will both play Shaka at different stages of his life. Talented actor Thembinkosi Mthembu stars as King Dingiswayo, while the award winning Wiseman Mncube bagged the role of King Zwide. Gomora’s Senzo Radebe has been cast as King Senzangakhona.

Actress and media personality Ntando Duma has been cast as Bhibhi KaSompisi Ntuli. She is Chief Senzangakhona’s 9th wife and mother to Sigujana, who was killed by his half brother Shaka. Veteran actress Sthandiwe Kgoroge is playing the formidable Queen Mthaniya. Another talented actress, Sive Mabuya has been cast in new series as one of Chief Senzangakhona’s wives.
