SA Celebs Join the World to Usher In Pride Month #PrideMonth

SA Celebs Join the World to Usher In Pride Month. June has been declared Pride Month to celebrate the LGBTQ community across the world. During this month, world’s LGBTQ communities come together and celebrate the freedom to be themselves. The original organizers chose this month to pay homage to the Stonewall uprising in June 1969 in New York City, which helped spark the modern gay rights movement.
As part of the celebrations, peaceful parades, street parties, community events, poetry readings, public speaking, street festivals and educational sessions are held worldwide. Even here in South Africa, we have the LGBTQ+ community, which always advocates for the rights of gays, lesbians, bisexuals, trangenders and other minorities.
We also have members of the LGBT community within celebrity circles, who have proudly declared their sexual orientation. Together with other celebrities they shared heartfelt messages to honor the Pride Month. Among those who welcomed the month is talented actress Nozuko Ntshangase, who identifies as she/he/them. “Why be Homophobic or transphobic when you could just be quiet?” Nozuko said.
Other celebs who welcomed the month with sweet posts include, media personality Penny Lebyane, actor and musician Phila Madlingozi as well as media personality and actor Teboho Caddy Tsotsetsi.
