10 Interesting Facts About Skeem Saam’s Samukele Mkhize (Khwezi). She is one of the most talked about actress on TV at the moment. This is because Samukele Mkhize is killing her current role as Khwezi on Skeem Saam.

1. Samukele Mkhize was born in 1998, in Durban. She was raised by her grandparents who were both pastors and so both she and her brother were involved in church activities.

2. She began her acting career in 2006, when she joined an amateur drama, music an dance group back in Kwa Mashu

3. Because of her amazing talent, Samukele was quickly spotted by the Artistic director of the community Arts Centre, Mr Edmund Mhlongo who cast her on Madam Presidential Musical.

4. For her lead role on Madam Presidential Musical, she got nominated at the Mercury Durban Theatre Awards for Best Newcomer and Best Lead Actress in A musical awards.

5. Spreading her wings wider, Samukele came to audition in Johannesburg for the drama series, The Road. She sadly did not get the role. She then got a small, but impactful role on Uzalo.

6. A few months later she got a call from Bob Productions, with a role ready for her. She is now popularly known for playing that role, of a naïve, village girl Mabuyi, who had a passion for building the community in Mzansi Magic’s canned telenovela Isibaya.

7. Samukele currently plays Khwezikazi ‘Khwezi’ Gisela on the SABC1 educational Drama, Skeem Saam Khwezi is a ruthless, ambitious reporter who’s out to make her baby daddy Lehasa’s life hell.

8. For the role, she bagged an award nomination at the recent 6th Royalty Soapie Awards, under the Viewers Choice Actress category.

9. Being an actress, isn’t the only talent she has. She revealed in one interview that she loved singing and also wanted to be a presenter.  

10. Sorry gents, the gorgeous Samukele is off the market. She announced in September last year that her husband paid Lobola for her on Heritage Day.
