Plans Underway for Nomcebo Zikode’s Home Coming After Grammy Award Win
Plans Underway for Nomcebo Zikode’s Home Coming After Grammy Award Win. Kudos to Kwa-Zulu Natal for recognizing their own like this. Nomcebo Zikode is about to feel like the superstar that she is, thanks to the Durban Creative Industry and eThekwini Municipality.
The award-winning songstress recently made history as the 2nd South African female to bag a Grammy, after Miriam Makeba back in 1966. This is quite big, considering the magnitude of these globally celebrated awards. Nomcebo, together with Zakes Bantwini and Wouter Kellerman walked away with the Best Performance award in the Global Music category, for their hit song ‘Bayethe’.
Zakes and Wouter arrived in the country about a week after their major win. They were given a heroes’ welcome by family members, associates and fans at large. Due to her international gigs, Nomcebo couldn’t come with them, and celebrate properly. The time has finally come for her to be celebrated and we are here for it.
The powers that be in KZN, have arranged a Home Coming event for Nomcebo. The ceremony will take place at King Shaka International Airport, this coming Thursday (23rd February), at 1pm. Nomcebo is grateful to be recognized at the place that made her the Grammy award winning artist that she is today.
“It’s time to bring the Grammy Award back to home soil, Kwa-Zulu Natal, the place that shaped me into the woman that I am. I’m really excited to celebrate this achievement with my people,” Nomcebo said in excitement.
