Lawrence Maleka Bids Farewell to His Role Zolani With A Note of Appreciation. Zolani Dlamini was relatable in so many ways. Even if you haven’t gone through what the character experienced in life, you at least know one or two Zolanis out there.
Although he wasn’t first choice for the role, there is no one we can imagine playing Zolani other than Lawrence Maleka. He was a perfect case of ‘from rags to riches.’ Because of his street-smart qualities Zolani was his aunt’s right hand man, and together they conquered the mining industry. Most of the time they bent the rules, and eliminated whoever was a threat in their game.
Sadly as they say, ‘you live by the sword, you die by the sword.’ Zolani was killed in a shootout with Mabutho Dimba (Thembinkosi Mthembu) when he took bullets for his aunt Lindiwe Dikana (Sindi Dlathu). This became the end of Lawrence on the hit telenovela, from having started with the River on season I to date.
This was a big character loved by many, henceforth Lawrence has taken the initiative to thank the fans out there.
