Nandi Madida Reflects On Being A Speaker At the Recent MIT Africa Innovate Conference. Nandi Madida is among local celebrities consistently doing amazing things abroad. Recently the award winning musician, media personality and event host got to represent herself and the country all the way in Boston, USA.

Nandi was there for the 13th edition of the MIT Africa Innovate Conference, themed The Promise of Africa: Path from Growth to Inclusive Prosperity. The aim of the event was to shift conversations towards building robust institutions and frameworks that propel Africa towards sustainable development and improvements in people’s living standards.

The MIT Sloan Africa Innovate Conference 2024 was held on April 12th and 13th, 2024, at the MIT Media Lab. There was also a celebration of African music after the conference.

Nandi is regarded as, a role model in South Africa’s creative industry. She is known for her recent role in Disney+’s ‘Black Is King’ directed by Beyoncé. At the conference, she was interviewed by Jackson M’vunganyi, where she shared her insights on fostering inclusive prosperity in Africa through arts and entertainment.

A week after the event, she is taking time to reflect on it. She also thanked the organizers for the invitation.

The day before our freedom day as a country South Africa🇿🇦, I thought it would be fitting to share an experience I know those who came before me had voted for, being invited to speak at MIT in Boston🇺🇸 was such an honour, more so to speak about Africa’s cultural power was a truly riveting experience.
