Breaking! André de Ruyter Resigns As Eskom Group Chief Executive Officer
Breaking! André de Ruyter Resigns As Eskom Group Chief Executive Officer. For the longest time, so many people wanted him to reign. These past couple of weeks though the heat was on for André de Ruyter, as the country reached Stage 6 load shedding.
Just the other day, The Young Nurses Indaba Trade Union became the latest organization to call for the head of de Ruyter. The union says the rolling blackouts are severely impacting hospitals and lives, as life-saving equipment such as ventilators cannot operate. According to some reports, the ANC’s national executive conference (NEC) wants Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan to replace de Ruyter.
So many people’s prayers, the general public included, have been answered. The CEO, who always took the blame during load shedding stages, has finally resigned. It is understood that De Ruyter’s resignation could lead to the departure from Eskom of a number of other senior executives and engineers. Jan Oberholzer, De Ruyter’s number two and the chief operating officer, will also retire in April 2023.
Was he the problem, or it had something to do with the system? Are things going to be better, or we now headed to the worst? Check out what some social media users have to say about the news below;
Thank you Andre De Ruyter. I was drowning in the Messi worship camp. Thank you chap.

I have no opinion on Andre de Ruyter because he has no track record at Eskom to speak of.
What I do know is that a new CEO won't solve Eskom's problems.
Half of Eskom's ancient coal fleet is a write-off, and government has done f*ck all to add new generation capacity.

Twitter tells me that Andre De Ruyter was completely useless but also so powerful that he will switch off the electricity to spite SA now that he's gone, but obviously in a different and much more vicious sort of way than the people who kept switching it off to spite him.

There are two jobs you must not take in South Africa. Eskom CEO and President of the Republic. Andre de Ruyter and President Ramaphosa will just not "win" despite their efforts ( some commendable n some lacking) . Toxic jobs, fixing planes while in mid-air literally.

If you think Andre de Ruyter's resignation is going to end #Loadshedding you're delusional. Roll on stage who knows where next. We're more fucked than we were yesterday this time.
