Here Is How Much Norma and Malusi Gigaba’s Wedding Cost. A lot of shocking revelations were unpacked on Monday evening at the Zondo commission of inquiry into state capture. Norma Mngoma opened up about the lavish lifestyle she lived with former minister Malusi Gigaba, mainly thanks to the Guptas.

One of the things that Norma spoke about was their over the top wedding celebration. The who’s who of the South African political, entertainment and business elite descended on Durban to witness the Gigabas special day which took place in August 2014. Cabinet ministers including Jeff Radebe, Nathi Mthethwa, Susan Shabangu, Naledi Pandor, Aaron Motsoaledi and the ANC’s Zizi Kodwa and his wife, Zama, were among the invited guests. Durban tycoon Vivian Reddy, his wife, Sorisha, Basetsana Kumalo and Romeo Kumalo, also attended the wedding.

No cent was spared at the much talked about wedding celebration. Norma arrived in a white Bentley with a customized number plate reading: “The Bride”. She looked all sorts of gorgeous in a white tube-design dress designed by South African fashion designer David Tlale. The elegant gown was made of French Chantilly lace, ad she rocked a pair of Jimmy Choo heels.

Gigaba wore a tailor-made suit designed by Congolese fashion designer Patrick Lusala of La. Rue Boutique, based in Sandton. The suit had a black jacket paired with grey pants and a gold waistcoat. This was indeed a fairy tale wedding fit for a King and his Queen. According to Norma’s testimony, the wedding cost between R4m and R5m, paid for in cash mainly by Gigaba. The couple also received cash as their wedding gift.

She explained to the commission that it was not odd that the wedding cost that much as it was two weddings, a white wedding and a traditional wedding. 

“I didn’t find it strange because Malusi has been a minister for a very, very long time and also he told me that he had savings with the money market that he saves money from. And most of the expenses we don’t pay for them because it’s paid by the state … so to have a lot of cash is not something that was strange to me,” Norma said.
