10 Interesting Facts You May Not Have Known About Mncedisi Shabangu. A day ago, we lost one of our most talented actors, Mncedisi Shabangu. According to a press statement issued by the family, the former Rhythm City actor died in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He has done a lot as a renowned actor, and he will be missed for his great talent. Learn more about the fallen star from the following facts about him.

1. Mncedisi Shabangu was born in KwaMashu, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, he was 53 at the time of his death.

2. While growing up, his passion for acting and interest in stage plays was ignited by the late South African playwright and producer, Gibson Kente.

3. In 1995, Shabangu enrolled at the Market Theatre Laboratory in Johannesburg, where he trained as an actor and theatre-maker, and then in 1998, he studied Theatre Making at the Royal National Theatre Studio in London, England.

4. The was actor, playwright, and theatre director was popularly known for his role as Khulekani Ngobese on Rhythm City. For this role he bagged himself a SAFTA for Best Supporting Actor.

5. Mncedisi has also featured in other major shoes such as The Lab as Skumbuzo, The Other Woman, Home Sweet Home, Ingozi, INumber Number, and The Kingdom.

6. The multi-award winning actor received a number of awards over the years, including, FNB Vita for best supporting actor, FNB Vita for best director, Fleur Du Cap for best actor, Standard Bank young artist award for drama, and Naledi Award for best supporting actor.

7. Shabangu has also directed several productions at the Market Theatre including Wangesheya-Wangesheya, Kanyamazane Galvanomit Akusiti, Barbershop, Mooi Street Moves and Vuka Machel.

8. Sadly he took his last breath on the 24th of July 2022. According to his brother Mthokozisi Shabangu, he just complained about chest pains, then he was rushed to the clinic and on arrival he was certified dead.

9. .Before his untimely death, Shabangu had joined SABC 1’s Uzalo and was due to start shooting on the 25th of July 2022.

10. Little is known about his wife and kids because Shabangu kept the identity of his family away from the internet.
