Industry Peers Mourn Rhythm City Actor Mncedisi Shabangu. The local entertainment industry has been hit by yet another heavy blow. Just a few days after the burial of actress Busi Lurayi, we have sadly lost another one of our stars, being 53 year old Mncedisi Shabangu.

According to a statement released by his family, Shabangu passed away in the early hours of Sunday. The award-winning actor playwright and theatre director passed away at his home in Mpumalanga. The family appreciated all the messages of condolences they have received thus far, but however did not disclose the cause of his death.

Mncedisi has acted and directed many theatre productions and has been on TV shows. Many remember him for his role in Rhythm City where he played Khulekani. He also acted on The Lab, and iNumber Number, just to name a few. Because of his amazing skills, in 2020 Mncedisi won a SAFTA for Best Supporting Actor for the role of Khulekani.

As the news of his passing broke, fans, industry peers and the nation at large took to social media to pay touching tributes. Among those include Nyaniso Dzedze, Thembisa Nxumalo, Renate Stuurman and Ntsiki Mazwai.
