1. Shoki Mmola was born in August 10th, 1977 and she will be turning 45 years this year.

2. The talented actress is well known for her role as Celia Kunutu on the hit SABC1 soapie, Skeem Saam. Just like many women who have been through a lot, Celia just wants to see her family on top, and sometimes she makes huge mistakes while at it.

3. Shoki comes from far as an actress though. She played Grace Lerothodi in the SABC1 mini-series Death of a Queen, which aired as part of the channel’s “Shakespeare in Mzansi” strand from July to August, 2008.

4. She also played the role of Tumi in the SABC2 soapie Muvhango and had a starring role in an episode of the e.tv drama series eKasi: Our Stories, in 2012. Other television series she has acted in include Kgatelopele, Moshwela Tharing, Old Grand Hotel, The Burning Issue, Generations, Body Kids, and Soul City.

5. Shoki has also done extensive work in theatre, appearing in productions such as Ancient Stars at the Giant Theatre, Space Odyssey at the Grahamstown Festival, The Pen at The Market Theatre and Gogo’s Groove at the Aardklop Festival.

6. Although, she is a force to be reckoned with in the industry, Shoki is yet to be awarded for her work. If it’s any consolation, she was nominated at the Golden Horn Award for Best Actress in a Lead Role in a TV Drama. In 2021, she was also nominated for Best Actress award at the SAFTAs.

7. On top of being an actress, Shoki is a translator, language advisor, dubbing producer and was a casting director on the children’s television series Takalani Sesame, as well as e.tv soapie Rhythm City.

8. Shoki was married to fellow actor and producer Sello Sebotsane, and the couple has a daughter, Oratile Kutlwano. Unfortunately their marriage ended after abuse allegations

9. In 2018, Shoki was strangled twice, punched several times in the face and in the body by her ex husband, and she sustained injuries to her face, stomach and legs. Later Sebotsane was charged with domestic violence and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

10. She recently made headlines after sharing sexy bikini pictures of herself on Instagram. As much as so many people dragged her for such pictures, Shoki is still serving those body goals and ain’t nothing stopping her.
