Bathu and Drip Catch Smoke As Local Companies Get Bashed for Manufacturing Products in China

Bathu and Drip Catch Smoke As Local Companies Get Bashed for Manufacturing Products in China. Nota Baloyi is currently trending on Twitter after opening yet another a can of worms. The outspoken artist manager and businessman has taken on local shoe brands Bathu and Drip, over how they do their business.

Nota stated that the shoe brands owned by thriving entrepreneurs, Theo Baloyi and Lekau Sehoana respectively, are not creating job opportunities for local people. He argues that, these shoe brands are manufactured in Asia, where many jobs are thus created. Despite the backlash her received from Sol Phenduka and other tweeps, Nota stands by his words that there are less job opportunities in SA, because entrepreneurs choose to produce overseas as opposed to here at home.

Immediately after Nota and Sol’s exchange on Twitter, Bathu and Drip also trended. So many people defended the gentlemen behind the brands, stating that manufacturing oversees is even done by big companies around the world. They also stated that it is quite cheaper to have products manufactured oversees as opposed to locally.

However, some tweeps, understood where Nota’s argument comes from and resonated with it quite well. They also are not sold to the saying that these two brands are locally owned.
