Somizi Receives Major Support After Getting Blocked From Zimbabwe Due to His Sexuality

Somizi Receives Major Support After Getting Blocked From Zimbabwe Due to His Sexuality. 2021 will definitely go down as one of the most difficult for Somizi. At the moment he and his estranged husband Mohale Motaung are going through a bitter divorce. Because of the claims Mohale made against Somizi, including both physical and emotional abuse, the celebrated media personality and entertainer has been cancelled on major shows, among them Idols SA.

Having noted that though, Somizi has been picking himself up with weekend gigs, where he incorporates cooking and entertainment. He is also making a major comeback to the small screen with a new show. Somizi has joined Moja Love channel, and will host a new dating show according to reports. Sadly, it seems like a dark cloud will always hang over his head.

Somizi’s gig in the neighboring Zimbabwe, did not materialize simply because of his sexuality. The Council of Indigenous churches as well as ZANU-PF youths blocked the coming of Somizi to Zimbabwe, where he was expected to appear at Garwe Restaurant as a guest chef on the 4th November 2021. The council also threatened to mobilize its members in protest.

A lot of people took to social media to stand with Somizi over the issue. They fail to understand how his presence will affect their beliefs as people against homosexuality. Among those who stood by Somizi is media personality Kuli Roberts, who urged those against the visit to feed their citizens instead of being homophobic. Somizi’s best friend singer Kelly Khumalo also canceled her appearance and performance at Garwe Restaurant; Zimbabwe to show her solidarity with Somizi.
