The cases are now spiking at an alarming rate and yesterday 1 275 new Covid-19 cases and 22 deaths were recorded in the country.

According to reports already 100 cases of this variant, have been detected in the country and more cases are being confirmed as sequencing results come out.

It has been highlighted that B.1.1.529 has an extremely high number of mutations. The variant has also been identified in Botswana with 3 cases and Hong Kong with one case.

This has unsettled so many people, who are now up to here with the virus. Some have blamed those who haven’t vaccinated for the variant, whereas others think this is just cooked by scientists. Many took to Twitter to share their views.
