SA Celebs Who Answered Their Ancestral Calling So Far in 2021. There is always a huge debate when celebrities become Sangomas. Many people in fact dismiss them and say, they do this just to trend. But nonetheless a number of celebrities continue to announce that they have answered their ancestral calling. Personalities like Letoya Makhene, Boity, Modiehi Thulo, Dineo Langa, Zola Hashatsi, Mlungisi Mathe, Lerato Sengadi, Lerato Mvelase, Buhle Mda and Phelo Bala are among those who are open about being Sangomas.
This year, we saw a number of celebrities, joining in to announce that they are now Sangomas. The likes of Dineo Ranaka, Toll Ass Mo, Oratile Maitisa, Masechaba Ndlovu, as well as Luyanda Potwana also recently became Sangomas. These celebrities took to social media to announce the news after they have had training.
Dineo Ranaka
Over the past few years, many were not sure if Dineo was a Sangoma or not. It is only recently that we got the clear picture. The media personality has “finally” decided to accept and embrace their ancestral calling. She recently shared an image of herself donning a Sepedi inspired traditional attire paired with an ancestral cloth wrapped around her head and special beads on her waist.
Toll Ass Mo
Toll Ass Mo, real name Mongezi Mahlangu is also a new Sangoma in the block. The comedian, media personality and entrepreneur has joined the growing list of South African celebrities who have accepted their ancestral gift of traditional healing. He recently shared pictures and videos of his big day surrounded by family and loved ones.
Oratile Maitisa
In June this year, Oratile announced that she is now a Sangoma. The talented Skeem Saam actress took to Instagram to share videos and pictures of what looks like her graduation day. She gracefully donned her full sangoma regalia and thanked those who have been with her through her traditional healing journey.
Masechaba Ndlovu
Earlier this year, Masechaba shared a picture of herself dressed in Sangoma gear doing a ritual. The media personality however, was dragged and called out for exposing sacred cultural practices.
Luyanda Potwana
Luyanda is also among the growing number of celeb Sangomas. The TV host shared that he too has begun his spiritual journey although he has kept it under wraps because he wants to complete the process away from the public eye.
