Levels! Thuso Mbedu Bags An International Award. She keeps on representing the country well on the international stage. Thuso Mbedu has just walked away with an award at the Hollywood Critics Association TV Awards. Our Golden girl was all excited when she announced the great news.
Beginning of July, Thuso was nominated for an HCA award alongside some of the most talented actresses in Hollywood. The SAFTA winning actress contesting for the Best Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Television Movie award. She was up against Hollywood giants Elizabeth Olsen, Kate Winslet Anya Taylor-Joy, Cynthia Erivo, Michaela Coel and Zendaya. The award went to Anya Taylor-Joy, from The Queen’s Gambit (Netflix).
All was not lost for Thuso, who went on to bag the TV Breakout Star Award. This is lead role Cora in The Underground Railroad Amazon series. Cora is a young woman who makes an amazing discovery during her attempt to break free from slavery in the deep south. This series has definitely earned her massive respect on the international scene.
Thuso, who missed out on an Emmy nomination might also bag yet another international award. She has been nomination for an ward at the upcoming Black Reel Awards. Thusi is battling it out on the Outstanding TV Movie/Limited Series, Actor & Actress category, which boasts Hollywood giants such as Chris Rock, Tessa Thompson, Dule Hill and Cynthia Erivo. Our fingers are crossed, that once again, she brings it home.
