Jafta Mamabolo Makes Another Major Career Move. Without a doubt, this year is his for the taking. A few years ago, Jafta Mamabolo made his debut as a writer and director, for the film, Freedom. This film also marked Mamabolo’s return to acting, after being out of scene for a few years. He recently celebrated Freedom making it on DStv Box-Office.
There is more good news for the talented actor, writer, director, and producer. Mamabolo has just announced that he has joined Ten10 as a Head of Development. According to VARIETY Magazine, his primary mandate is to expand the company’s Africa-focused entertainment slate. The first projects that Mamabolo will oversee include young adult series “Abel & Ashanti” with producer Bill Borden; the African-futuristic “Akebul-an Chronicles” with Fremantle; and a limited series based on the book “Call Me American”.

Mamabolo’s first found continental acclaim at age 11 when he landed a lead-role on youth program, Soul Buddyz. He’s gone on to land several prominent roles on South Africa’s most acclaimed TV shows and films, including but not limited to, SABC1 soapie Generations, 2009 Oscar nominated movie, Jerusalema as well as AAMA’s and AMVCA nominated film, Otelo-Burning.
Jafta has also conceptualized and executive-produced the SAFTA (South African Film & Television Awards) winning Mi Kasi Su Kasi, currently SA’s most-watched travelogue. Talk about a massive talent!
