Heartfelt Tributes Pour In For Veteran Actress Shaleen Surtie-Richards #RIPShaleenSurtieRichards
Heartfelt Tributes Pour In For Veteran Actress Shaleen Surtie-Richards. South Africa is mourning yet another veteran actor. So far this year, we have lost of the likes of MacDonald Mathunjwa, Menzi Ngubane, Sam Phillips, Lindiwe Ndlovu, David Buttler, Noxolo Maqashalala, Ceagan Arendse and Ben Kruger.
On another sad note, the nation is mourning the passing away of Shaleen Surtie-Richards. The veteran actress had been in Cape Town to shoot episodes of the show she was appearing in and when she didn’t show up on set on Monday morning, someone went looking for her at the guesthouse where she was staying. The 66-year-old star was sadly found in her room. The circumstances of her death are still unclear though.
Shaleen, who had been plagued by health issues in recent years, had a stroke in 2012. She was playing Fiela Komoetie in the stage production of Fiela se Kind and was also working on e.tv’s Broken Vows when she collapsed and was rushed to hospital, where it was determined she’d had a stroke. Shaleen then made lifestyle changes and tried to stop smoking, and her life seemed to be back on track.
Condolences continue to pour in for the late star, from colleagues, political leaders as well as fans. Youth Village wishes to extend heartfelt condolences to her family, friends and colleagues.
