“It’s Not About Being Famous,” Kgomotso Ndungane On Being Part of The Real Housewives of Durban

“It’s Not About Being Famous,” Kgomotso Ndungane On Being Part of The Real Housewives of Durban. A lot of people have managed to launch their careers i the entertainment industry with reality shows. The likes of Pinky Girl, Mohale Motaung, Shauwn Mkhize, Modiehi Thulo and so many others won hearts when they made their debut as reality show stars.

This has been the case with women who took part in both Real Housewives of Johannesburg, and Real Housewives of Durban. As the latest reality show to air, the Real Housewives of Durban has taught us more about the ladies who took part on the first season. Although she said her journey with the Real Housewives of Durban has ended, Kgomotso Ndungane remains one of the most talked about star on the show. This is because she always made sure that her presence was felt by fearlessly voicing out her opinions every now and then.

Among other things, the businesswoman and wife of former Springbok player Odwa Ndungane has spoken against tribalism, and has also questioned the hosting skills of some of the ladies straight to their faces. She also was decided to not be part of the reunion, something that once again made headlines.

But was she on the show to gain more fame, and grow her business? According to her, it was not about the fame, but about influencing whoever chooses to view the show positively. Kgomotso also stated that she used the word angilisabi very loosely and she has asked viewers to look at the word as ‘never fear,’ or let the opinion of others determine your outlook.

I have recently had the honour to be part of Real Housewives of Durban, an entertainment and lifestyle show viewed by millions of people across Africa. What is the message which I want to share further beyond the show but with that platform? It is as follows: “It’s not about being famous, it’s about influencing whoever that chooses to view the show positively. I once used the term “angilisabi” – very loosely – on the show but what I would like each person to take from it is that; NEVER FEAR. Stay true to who you are. Never let the opinions of people determine how you finish, how you move, how you talk and determine how you move forward in life. Move forward with power, strength and and the priceless gifts that life grants you,” Kgomotso said.
