The Chillers Over The Moon As MacG Bags A New Sponsor
The Chillers Over The Moon As MacG Bags A New Sponsor. There is always light at the end of the tunnel. The past few weeks have not been easy for MacG. A month ago, MacG and his co-host Sol Phenduka infuriated the LGBTQ+ community after sharing their views about transgender people. There was so much pressure on social media after the episode was aired resulting in Podcast and Chill with MacG losing their Old Mutual sponsorship. This was not enough for a lot of people, they wanted him to be cancelled altogether.
A statement was then released, in which the Podcast and Chill with MacG team apologized for their homophobic remarks. Things took a different turn though, when MacG aired another episode to address the selective cancel culture common on social media. He called out celebrities for telling off certain people publicly when they err, but mum when their faves are on the wrong side of the law. MacG mentioned how the likes of Thando Thabethe and Mantsoe were quite the time DJ Fresh was accused of alleged rape, but were vocal when his transgender episode aired.
Within a few days after the episode, MacG lost his second deal, this time around with SupaBets. The gaming sports group SupaBets was responsible for licensing his content on SupaTV. They suspended the airing of all MacGโs content on its channel while an internal investigation is being conducted. Although this didn’t look good for MacG, and his podcast, he continued pushing. MacGโs fan-base, who are popularly known as The Chillers, grew dramatically. He now has a total of 129K subscribers, with staunch fans who never miss an episode.
As for sponsorship, Podcast and Chill with MacG has bagged a new deal. They are now sponsored by Studio 88 and the future looks bright. MacG can be seen on the latest episodes, rocking merchandise sold at Studio 88. The Chillers took to Twitter to congratulate their fave on his latest deal. MacG did say a few weeks ago that he won’t be cancelled by the cancel culture.
He also has another reason to celebrate this week, as his alcohol brand, Grandeur Gin has been sold out on Takealot. Good things happen to those who defy negativity.
