South African Celebrities Representing Us Well On An International Stage. More South African personalities are fast moving towards global stardom and we could not be more proud. We are proud of these individuals who through hard work put us in par with the rest of the world. Check out these inspirational few that we are bringing to your attention.

1. Trevor Noah

Comedian Trevor Noah, who has been doing quite well in the US. Noah took over as host of the The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, taking over from Jon Stewart. Since 2016, the comedian has soared to even bigger heights with some truly memorable achievements. Now he is a proud winner of an Emmy.

2. Terry Pheto

Just recently Terry Pheto was the big winner at the fourth annual International Achievement Recognition Awards in London. In March, this year she won Best Supporting Actress at the prestigious UK National Film Awards for her work in A United Kingdom. Terry is noted for her work in the Oscar-winning local film Tsotsi, The Bold and The Beautiful and the Madiba biopic Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.

3. Black Coffee

He is arguably the most prominent electronic music producer in Africa.Coffee is the first South African to win a BET award in the Best International Act – Africa category. Another major highlight for the house DJ was being included in the lineup at the renowned American festival, the Coachella festival. He has followed in the footsteps of music icons like Drake, Dr Dre and Pharrell Williams by scoring his own radio show on Apple’s Beats 1 radio station

4. Nomzamo Mbatha

Her rise to fame started after she made it to the finals in the MTV Base VJ search in 2012. Although, she didn’t win, she made the top three and was in the spotlight after the contest. This actress is now recognized internationally having been a big part of events like Black Girls Rock and BET awards.

5. Nandi Madida

Another lady who has had a shot at BET is the talented Nandi. She has recently hosted this year’s installment of the Afropunk Fest in Brooklyn, New York. Nandi was the first black African to host the festival, which will be heading to South Africa for the first time in December.

6. Bonang Matheba

The list will not have been complete without mentioning South Africa’s It girl, Bonang Matheba. Among her many international brand endorsements, Bonang was named the African ambassador for Ipanema footwear. She was selected for her elegant touch and love of fashion and joined the likes of supermodel Gisele Bündchen, another face connected to the brand.
