“I Spoke Out of Ignorance,” Honeshma Margarido Apologizes for What She Said About Coloured People On Open Chats Podcast. Quite a number of times, our celebrities get in trouble for what they say on podcasts. This applies to both hosts and guests as they get comfortable, and say the most hurtful things about other individuals. Because of this, a number of them have landed in serious trouble
Just a few months back, MacG insinuated on his podcast that Minnie Dlamini’s failed relationships may be because of body odor. Now he is allegedly being sued millions. A few years back, Rea Gopane said that Bonang Matheba was using drugs, together with the late AKA. Bonang did not waste time, and engaged legal help. Rea is now going through the most paying the media personality, some serious money.
Now another major podcast, Open Chats is trending over what the hosts said. In their recent episode, the hosts engaged in despicable stereotyping of coloured people, including an abhorrent discussion questioning whether coloured people engage in sexual activity with their siblings. They also went on to describe coloured people as “crazy”. It was all fun and games, when this was said, but now legal action has been taken.
The podcast has since apologized through their legal representation, but the damage has already been done. Patriotic Alliance (PA) president Gayton McKenzie called on all the lawyers in the party to compile a report on the action that they will take against the statements. He said people must not be allowed to be comfortable enough to speak derogatory statements against coloureds. The Democratic Alliance (DA) has also opened a case against the Open Chats Podcast.
Honeshma, who was a guest at the podcast, is also part of the drama. The Amapiano artist said she once dated a coloured, and attested that they are crazy. She however, did not agree with some of the stuff said. Neshma, has since apologized to her contribution on the topic.
“I spoke out of ignorance and caused harm. This is me owning it, with respect and accountability.
Read my full apology,” Neshma said.
