Shop Assistant / Cashier Opportunity at Clicks Volksrust

Clicks Group is looking for a Shop Assistant / Cashier to join their Volksrust store. This permanent position aims to deliver excellent customer service while ensuring smooth in-store operations. Applications close on 20 November 2025.

Position Overview
The role focuses on efficient point of sale operations, accurate handling of merchandise and cash, and promoting Clicks’ clubcard. You will ensure customers receive a friendly, professional experience while supporting store merchandising and housekeeping standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute all point of sale activities promptly and accurately.
• Scan merchandise and process payments, including managing clubcard rewards.
• Handle cash safely at all times.
• Promote the Clicks clubcard and enroll new members to meet participation targets.
• Inform customers of promotions to increase sales and enhance their shopping experience.
• Act as a brand ambassador by delivering high-quality customer service.
• Maintain merchandising and general housekeeping according to store standards.
• Stay informed on products, promotions, and events to provide accurate information to customers.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Basic maths and numeracy skills.
• Understanding of retail/FMCG operations, merchandising, and promotions.
• Knowledge of stock management procedures.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Planning, organizing, and problem-solving abilities.
• Good communication and computer literacy.

Competencies

• Essential: relating and networking, following instructions, meeting customer expectations.
• Desirable: persuading and influencing, planning and organizing, coping with pressure.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Grade 12 essential; Maths and English at 50% desirable.
• Experience: Customer-facing retail/FMCG experience is preferred.
