Major Comeback! Nelisa Mchunu Returns to Uzalo. Uzalo has just beefed up it’s cast with amazing talent, and viewers are in for a thrill. Among those is Nelisa Mchunu, who is returning to reprise her role as Fikile. She will continue her journey on the SABC1 drama from Wednesday, 24 September 2025.
Fikile returns to KwaMashu after a 4-year hiatus, after having left a broken-hearted Sbu with an unanswered question. She is still as cunning and conniving as ever. Her undeniable, endearing beauty and history with Sbu overwhelm him so much that he has no choice but to let her back into his life.
About her return, Nelisa, promises viewers the same “Beyoncé” energy and wild ride between the old Fikile and the new Sbu. The talented actress sees Uzalo as her first home, where she learnt, grown and reached new heights in her career.
Mondli Nkomo is also joining Uzalo, to play the role of Mr Dongwe. He makes an unexpected return to the Xaba house on Wednesday, 1 October 2025. Mr Dingwe, is MaDongwe’s husband and Lilly’s father. After being a loving and dedicated husband for years, he made a drastic decision to abandon his wife and daughter, leaving them homeless. For about a decade, he was nowhere to be seen. He has a natural charisma that draws people in; it is easy to love and trust him. He also uses this to manipulate people in his favour.
Another new addition in the Uzalo cast is Jamy Lee Simons. She will make her debut on Thursday, 4 September 2025, as Joanne Davids, Ashley’s mother. Ashley is Nkazimulo’s girlfriend; now her mother, Joanne has entered the scene. She is an old school beauty and party girl who was tamed by her religious husband.
When Joanne’s daughter, Ashley, spirals into distress after Nkazimulo’s kidnapping, Joanne starts spending time with Nkunzi, helping him cope. Nkunzi is everything Brandon is not: dangerous, impulsive, unpredictable, and deeply charismatic.
