| Job Summary | Murray & Roberts Projects invite suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of QS for the Medupi Project reporting to the Commercial Manager . The project entails the building of 6 x 780 MW Coal Fired Super Critical Boiler for the coal fired Medupi Power Station to be erected at the Medupi Site at Lephalale (Ellisras), Limpopo PURPOSE OF THE JOB: – Effective cost management and control on budgets. Responsible for providing support and expertise at every stage of the construction process from initial feasibility through to settlement of the final account. |
| Key Responsibilities | The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS: Collation and review of expenditure, cost and cost variance monitoring analysis and trending, Identification of programme variation and contract change costs Evaluate client driven change for cost/time benefit. Involved in quantity take-off for structural, mechanical & Piping works. Preparation of monthly progress billing to client. Evaluation of subcontract proposals. Preparation of variation orders. Evaluation of subcontractor claims, subcontractor back-charges and preparation of Payment Certificates. Responsible to the Project Controls Manager for all aspects of quantity surveying Coordinates with material expediters on critical items of supply Coordinates with material expediters on expenditure forecasts, completion reports and/or all aspects of cost control Assistance with preparation area / unit estimates, pricing of change notices, scope changes and variations Assistance with preparation of monthly sub-contractor progress certificate for area / units under control to client (Hitachi) Lead QS consolidates all Assistance with verification and validation of sub-contractor progress payment certificates (Sub-contractors) for areas / units under control Assistance with preparation of management reports as required for units under control General estimating and QS duties as senior may direct |
| Key Requirements | Suitable candidates must have the following work experience: Qualified QS but not necessary PQS. Recent graduate or diplomat with some 3 to 5 years experience in a construction related industry preferably industrial contracts or projects. Reasonable understanding of various forms of contract i.e FIDEC and NEC which Hitachi and Eskom will apply. Well developed IT skills especially MS Excel a requirement. The incumbent should have good interpersonal skills as the role will require a lot of interaction with team members, sub-contractors and main contractor. |
